Verve Communications

We deliver for our clients - no matter what

Local Government

Local government is going through a continual process of change as citizens and communities demand higher standards and real accountability from their elected representatives and service providers. These changes present significant communication challenges.

Whether you work for a London borough, met, county, unitary or district council you need to take a strategic approach to service delivery that brings you together with many different partners. Expectations are high - from local people, partner organisations, amongst your staff and from government - that you can meet new challenges and communicate effectively. Modern services require a modern approach to communication both internally and externally. Our local government communication experience - gained on the front line, over many years - can help you stay ahead.

Modernising Belfast

Belfast City Council

The modernisation agenda is beginning to impact directly on local government in Northern Ireland. Local authorities face the challenges of Single Status and the Review of Public Administration (RPA) together with increased funding pressures. Verve completed a communications audit and review for Belfast City Council and was then commissioned to undertake a detailed study of its advertising portfolio and assist with its internal communications and culture change programme.

According to Eamon Deeney, Head of Corporate Communications:

“The most impressive aspect of Verve's work was the way they quickly got to grips with our political and organisational peculiarities to produce realistic, workable and above all innovative solutions.”

Working Together for a Better Tower Hamlets

London Borough of Tower Hamlets

Verve's campaign ‘Working Together for a Better Tower Hamlets’ used PR as a catalyst for accelerating improvements in the borough. A key part was informing local people about the council's activities and encouraging their support - for example through reporting problems at street level - as well as generating behavioural change.

The campaign was broken down into key themes, each backed by a detailed action plan. In addition to securing immediate and visible improvements in performance and behaviour, our work was designed to deliver a sustainable step change, embedded both internally and across the borough.
