Third Sector
In July 2006, the Local Government Association speculated that half of all council services could be delivered by not-for-profit providers by the end of the decade, changing the whole landscape in which the third sector operates. The current Government's proposal for a 'Big Society' is placing an even greater emphasis and reliance on the work of this valuable sector of the community.
At the annual ACEVO symposium there was a call for a ‘step change’ in outsourcing and asset transfer and a demand for a shift in mindsets about the third sector “from sticking plaster to mainstream”. Such a step change requires real confidence in the third sector from the Government, partners and customers. What people say and think about you, your organisation and the sector within which you work is everything. It makes the difference between success and failure. Verve can help you to gain and maintain a reputation for delivering.
Developing a communications strategy for Eaves
Helping Eaves Housing for Women - a London-wide housing charity - raise its profile and effectively manage its communications was the challenge set for Verve. Having undertaken a communications audit, we were asked to deliver key recommendations. This involved reviewing the role of communications staff, developing the brand and rationalising the branding, overhauling websites, producing a communications handbook, reviewing recruitment media and producing a range of marketing materials.
Bernadette Marjoram, Eaves' Chair, said
“Verve assisted us to adopt a more structured and strategic approach to our communications, providing affordable tailored solutions with practical advice.”
Save the Children International Alliance
Good communication is crucial to supporting the work of charities and international aid agencies. Having a clear and consistent approach across affiliate organisations is particularly important to Save the Children with branches in countries around the world - both raising funds and delivering programmes.
Verve worked with the membership department of the Save the Children International Alliance on developing a communication strategy and provided a planning template for the international group. This work was then used to create a consistent international approach, and develop best practice worldwide.
